A weekend sailing along the Catalan coast.
\nSetting off on Saturday morning, it is customary to sail along the Catalan coast as far as Blanes or Sant Feliu de Gu\u00edxols to the north, and Sitges or Vilanova i la Geltr\u00fa to the south. Sailing along the Costa Brava<\/h2>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”” text_direction=”default”]Sailing along the Catalan coast: Over long weekends or bank holidays<\/strong>, we can sail along the Costa Brava, depending on how much time we have. We can sail past the Cape at Tossa de Mar and drop anchor depending on the weather. A good area is around Punta Santa Ana, Cala la Falconera, Cala Fanals, Cala Bona and Cala Giberola, all the way to Sant Feliu de Gu\u00edxols. Just north of Sant Feliu de Gu\u00edxols, we can sail to S\u2019Agar\u00f3. It is a large, sheltered cove, dotted with luxury residences and hotels. It has a rich history of famous figures such as Charles Chaplin, Humphrey Bogart, Ava Gardner, etc. These celebrities spent long periods there.<\/p>\n

Heading north, we sail to Palam\u00f3s, a very pretty village that is well worth a visit. North of Palam\u00f3s there are also lovely coves to anchor in, such as Cala Fosca or Es Castell. The rugged coastline is very rocky and full of coves to discover whilst sailing on the Trinidad.[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”” text_direction=”default”]\n

Habaneras from Calella by boat<\/h2>\n[\/vc_column_text][vc_column_text css=”” text_direction=”default”]If we continue sailing northwards, we\u2019ll pass the Formigues Islands. We\u2019ll also visit places such as Calella de Palafrugell. It\u2019s a picturesque town that has retained the old-world charm of the local villages from before the arrival of mass tourism. Its annual habanera festival is also internationally renowned. The \u2018Cantada d\u2019habaneres\u2019 in Calella de Palafrugell brings thousands of people together on the beach to listen to this rhythm performed by various groups. Enjoying some habaneras from a boat is a wonderful experience.<\/p>\n

Next, we come to Llafranc, another charming little fishing village well worth a visit by sailboat. At the nearby Cape Roig lies the Cape Roig Botanical Garden. It is a garden where an important music festival, the Cape Roig Festival, is held. In this area, we can anchor in one of its coves such as Tamariu, Aiguablava, Cala sa Tuna, Aiguafreda and also Sa Riera.<\/p>\n

At the far end of Pals Bay, we can already see the port of l\u2019Estartit, situated opposite the Medes Islands. These have been designated a Specially Protected Area of Mediterranean Importance (ZEPIM) and are considered the diving mecca of Catalonia.<\/p>\n
